“When my father died, an entire library burned to ashes.”
LAURIE ANDERSON (from Ugly one with the jewels)

What brought us together?
We spent time trying to figure it out and we realized that it was memory that brought our paths together. That's how I remember it.
We met while pacing back and forth in time. One of us was very, very late, the other was perhaps earlier than he thought. The other thought he was punctual, but only time was punctual. That's how we met.
We were loaded. Large, unwieldy, burdens unmercifully heavy for our small shoulders.
We were deep records. As we searched our memories, we realized that we were already memories.
We attempted to lighten our load. We wanted to pour out all the chemical, volatile, patched, and damaged memories that our nameless, shapeless, and odorless ancestors, who could not keep up with old photographs, had buried and stuffed right into our dreams, to make room for our own day, to do this brutally if necessary, and perhaps to become a burden on others' minds already.
It's okay if you don't remember us, but we did all of this so that you would remember those we remember.
“So that there will be someone who remembers what we remember.”
Apparently, someone once said this.
But why did he say that? No one remembers that.
It's time to find out.
It's time to remember why forgetting is as glorious as death.
